Applicants for the International Media Studies Master's program require a recognized undergraduate degree (bachelor's or equivalent) and following that, at least one year's experience working in a media-related field.
Applicants require proof of English language skills. This can be acquired by taking a test at a recognized institution in your home country. Proof is not required for those who have English as their first language. You can find a list of recognized language tests and required levels in the downloads of the FAQ section.
What documents are required?
We only accept online applications. Documents sent by post, fax or email cannot be considered.
Please note that for documents that are not in English or German, you must also include a certified translation.
Please never send us original documents unless you are specifically asked to do so. You will only be asked to submit all documents in officially certified form to Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences if you are admitted to the program. You will receive the relevant instructions if your application is successful.
Before you start the online application, please check that you have all the required application documents available:
- Letter of motivation (in English, max. 700 words; font: Arial, font size: 10; line spacing: 1.5 with signature and date)
- Current CV (in English, in Europass format, with signature and date)
- University degree certificate of the first academic degree (including list of grades)
- Proof of at least one year of professional experience in the media sector (AFTER the first university degree; applicants for a scholarship require proof of at least 2 years of professional experience after the first university degree). You can submit a certificate from your employer as proof of your professional experience. The certificate should include the media-relevant title and duration of your employment, the company letterhead, the date of issue of the certificate and the employer's signature. - APS certificate - if university degree obtained in China, India, Vietnam or Mongolia
- Proof of English language skills (at least level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). If you have completed a degree program in which English was the language of instruction, you can submit an official written confirmation from the university.
Applicants for a scholarship must also enclose the following documents with their application:
- Academic letter of recommendation from your home university (on letterhead, stamped by the university, signed and dated)
- Letter of recommendation from current employer (with letterhead, organization stamp, signature and date)
- Completed DAAD application (with signature and date)
