Multimedia Special: Surviving the Winter – Coping with the Cold

To get ready for multimedia work at DW, ten international trainees prepared a multimedia special. What that meant for the interns was a week of intense multimedia creativity, under professional supervision – putting together texts, videos, images and sounds – using digital cameras, video cameras, laptops and microphones.

"Our goal in this practice-oriented seminar is for the trainees to get used to combining the skills required for radio, television and the Internet. And as the result shows, it was a worthwhile effort", said Bernhard Graf Schulenburg, head of journalism training at DW Akademie

Producing "Surviving the Winter – Coping with the Cold“ was a lot of fun for all involved – especially given the fact that winter was an alien concept to most of Deutsche Welle’s international trainees before they came to Germany. They come from some of the hottest countries in the world – Kenya, India, Morocco or Syria.
