Press freedom in Georgia during its 2024 elections

In 2024, independent media in Georgia aimed to hold government leaders to account during a contentious election. A recently released report, 'In-Depth Analysis of the Electoral Environment of the 2024 Parliamentary Elections,' explores how media can protect election integrity. It discusses the regulatory and political framework governing elections, the main challenges to free and fair elections, and the legislative, political, and funding aspects involved. Additionally, it examines issues related to disinformation and hybrid warfare.
The study highlights systemic violations that occurred during the pre-election period, on election day, and in the post-election phase, all of which contradict the principles of free and fair elections. Large-scale and systemic violations raise significant doubts around the electoral process's legitimacy.
