Margarita recipe

Jefferson ChaseJuly 22, 2015

When the temperatures rise, it's time to sink a few cool cocktails. And there's nothing better in summer than a margarita. DW's Jefferson Chase has been experimenting and has come up with a special recipe.

Ein Margarita Drink

Margaritas are made for strawberries, but using only strawberries yields a drink that's too sweet and cloying for my taste. I prefer a blend of 60 percent strawberries, 30 percent honeydew melon and ten percent raspberries.

Mash the strawberries and put the rest through a blender on low speed to get a consistency that's not to creamy or too pulpy. Than add lime juice and a dash of unrefined cane sugar and a mint leaf or a slice of lime as a garnish.

For the alcoholic component, you should use a tequila reposada and either triple sec or Cointreau. The proper proportion is 4 to 1. How strong you want to make the drink is up to you, but remember margaritas can be deceptively deadly.

Salt the rim of a glass, add crushed ice, pour in the alcohol and then the fruit juice mixture. You can also shake if you want, but I don't really think it's necessary.

Cheers!
